We’ll make a quick sketch map of the graveyard by laying out a 3-4-5 triangle with tape measures to sketch out the portion of the graveyard. Number each grave with a sequential series of numbers that incorporate the graveyard id code, eg nbuc-01, nbuc-02, etc. and use graph paper to measure and mark the approximate location. This is simply a sketch. An actual project would have proper surveying equipment, gps and so on.

We do have access to a LiDAR machine. This can be tied into GPS signals and corrected with local cellular phone tower triangulation such that the scan is correctly located in space. You will be shown how to use the scanner on site. You will carry the machine carefully along the perimeter of the graveyard and then through the centre to get a complete scan; this should take approximately 5 minutes’ worth of scanning.
